Its history

This Castle is located between the ancient Roman road from Aginum to Tolosa and the lateral canal to the Garonne. In 1730 this place was the property of the Secondat, a noble family who had settled in Agenais around 1550. One of the descendants, Godefroy-Jean de Secondat Baron de Roquefort became the mayor of Boé in 1813. His daughter Marie Françoise, Baronne de Longeon, succeeded him at the head of the property on his death in 1825. She was noticed by her charitable acts, participating in the restoration work of the church of Saint Pierre de Gaubert where she was also buried . She had adopted her grand nephew De Secondat de Montesquieu, from the branch of the great Montesquieu de la Brède, who kept the castle for about thirty years before selling it and finally retiring to the home of his grandfather in La Brède near Bordeaux.
